Mary Hooker Taylor of Greensboro, NC died on June 18, 2017. She was the daughter of Dr. Shahane Richardson Taylor, Jr. and Betty Teague Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother, David McIver Taylor.

Mary is survived by her brother, Shahane Richardson Taylor, III. of Greensboro, her sister and brother-in-law, Anne Taylor House and Albert Clarence House, III of Charlotte, her nephews Shahane Richardson Taylor, IV of Garner, NC and William Edward Taylor of Brooklyn, NY, her niece Katherine McMillan Taylor of Greensboro, her sister-in-law Deborah McMillan Taylor...

Mary Hooker Taylor of Greensboro, NC died on June 18, 2017. She was the daughter of Dr. Shahane Richardson Taylor, Jr. and Betty Teague Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother, David McIver Taylor.

Mary is survived by her brother, Shahane Richardson Taylor, III. of Greensboro, her sister and brother-in-law, Anne Taylor House and Albert Clarence House, III of Charlotte, her nephews Shahane Richardson Taylor, IV of Garner, NC and William Edward Taylor of Brooklyn, NY, her niece Katherine McMillan Taylor of Greensboro, her sister-in-law Deborah McMillan Taylor of Greensboro, and her significant other of many years, Rob Bodle of Summerfield, NC. She also leaves behind a great-niece, several godchildren, and many devoted and loyal friends.

Known to most as Mary, Mary Hooker, or, simply, MT, Ms. Taylor was born in Chapel Hill, NC on December 8, 1959. She was a graduate of Greensboro Day School, attended Mount Vernon College in Washington, DC, and UNC-Chapel Hill where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was an alumnae of Guilford College.

A talented writer and editor, her career focused on advertising and public relations. She was a senior editor for Triad Business News, and held marketing positions with Pace Communications, Volvo Finance, and several Triad advertising agencies. Most recently, she was VP Communications for the High Point branch of Steinreich Communications, New York.

Mary was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Greensboro, Weatherspoon Art Gallery, Green Hill Center for NC Art, The Debutante Club of Greensboro, and Junior Dogwood Garden Club.

A private burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery followed by a memorial service for all her many friends and family at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21 at St. Francis Episcopal Church, Greensboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Mary Hooker Taylor Scholarship Fund, Greensboro Day School.

The family expresses its gratitude for the kindness and professionalism shown by the nurses and technicians of the Oncology Department at Wesley Long Hospital and Cancer Center. The family adds their sincere gratitude for the gracious and loving hospice care provided by Blumenthal Nursing Center and Beacon Place of Greensboro.
