John Adams Watkins was born on November 28, 1934 and passed away peacefully on March 29, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. "John A." was born in Greensboro, N.C. and grew up in Sedgefield, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen H. Watkins and Elizabeth Adams Watkins.

John Adams Watkins was born on November 28, 1934 and passed away peacefully on March 29, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. "John A." was born in Greensboro, N.C. and grew up in Sedgefield, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen H. Watkins and Elizabeth Adams Watkins.

John attended The Baylor School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from Guilford College. Afterwards, he served his country in the U.S Air Force. Later, John A. moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where his family had a beach home when he was growing up and he loved living there.

He started a real estate company called Flagship Properties and was an avid golfer and pilot. Also, he enjoyed scuba diving and surf fishing with his many friends.

John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Dickinson Watkins, his brother Buddy Watkins and his wife Margaret Rose, brother David Watkins and his wife Betty, niece Kitty Sydnor and her husband Will Sydnor, niece Stewart Forsbrand and her husband Anders Forsbrand, nephew Hunter Watkins and his wife Yuki, stepson Clay Bryan, stepdaughter Katherine Bryan Fichthorn, cousins Mary Spencer Ferchaud, Jere Ayers, and Betty Ayers Hicks and lastly, by his beloved dog "Tate".

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2pm at Guilford Memorial Park (6000 High Point Road 27407). The family will receive friends at the Sedgefield Country Club (3201 Forsyth Drive 27407) from to 3pm to 4pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123) or Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care (2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405).
