Daniel Brugha Patrick O'Connor, 94, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, in Greensboro, NC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2203 West Market Street, Greensboro. Burial will take place in Salisbury National Cemetery, Thursday, December 1, 11:00 a.m.

Dan was the son of the late James Bulger O'Connor and Harriett (Dowling) O'Connor. He served in the U.S. Navy from October 1942 to March 1946. While in the Navy, he served in the Pacific Theatre of War on the USS...

Dan was the son of the late James Bulger O'Connor and Harriett (Dowling) O'Connor. He served in the U.S. Navy from October 1942 to March 1946. While in the Navy, he served in the Pacific Theatre of War on the USS Harold C. Thomas-DE-21, the USS Lindenwald LSD 6 and the USS Goodhus APA 107. He was discharged from the Navy at Lido Beach, Long Island, NY.

Prior to living in Greensboro, Dan lived in Uniondale, NY for 46 years. While there, he was a member of St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3488 and retained his membership all these years. He was also a member of the Irish American Club of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens. He often hosted the Pat Thompson Long Island Radio Show where they played Irish music. Dan volunteered for the Uniondale Public Library and the Hempstead Public Library where he would deliver books to the home bound.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Brugha O'Connor, Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (O'Connor) Brucia and her husband George "Gip" Brucia; who was also Dan's best man and Ann (O'Connor) Gassert and her husband, Donald X. Gassert. Dan was the devoted husband of Helen "Vera" (Johnson) O'Connor who passed in 2014.

Dan is survived by his son, Kevin Gerard O'Connor (Lenore) of Greensboro; brother, James O'Connor (Ruth) in Hawley, PA; grandsons, Shaun Michael O'Connor, Mathew Keith O'Connor, Daniel James O'Connor all of Greensboro and great granddaughters, Ava Claire O'Connor and Chrystelle White, both of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street.
