Greensboro- Benjamin Richard Parham, 74, passed away on March 29, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 1, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Bart Friddle officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM tonight at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel.

Richard was born in Guilford County to the late Luther and Myrtle Cooper Parham. He began his 37 year career with the city of Greensboro in the water department and at the time of his retirement he was a Code Enforcement Officer. Richard was a long time active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and spent ten years in the NC National Guard. His family was his priority and they will miss his keen sense of humor and the memorable times he spent with them. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, fishing, rooting for Carolina, and NASCAR. His other passion was shopping and he was a regular at the N. Elm Goodwill. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Suitts Parham of the home; children and their spouses, Kathy Parham (Mike) Hudgins and Bradley Richard (Jennifer) Parham, both of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Sara Katelynn (Matt) Hilliard, Morgan Elizabeth Hudgins and Abrianna Grace Parham and niece and nephew, Megan and Gideon Spence. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Lynn (Bill) Spence and half -brother, Tommy Pierce.

The family extends their gratitude to the staffs of Wesley Long Hospital and Blumenthal Nursing and Rehab Center for their compassionate care of Richard during his stay. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 or St. Paul's UMC, 2900 N.
